The CPSC (Consumer Products Safety Commission) has broad oversight regarding imported products. The goal of the CPSC is to identify and stop the importation of goods that may be hazardous to consumers. Using the new ACE system, CPSC has the ability to do advanced data analysis and research which allows them to better target potentially hazardous goods.
CPSC has inspectors in a number of U.S. ports of entry and those inspectors work in unison with U.S. Customs inspectors and personnel in the targeting and examination of shipments. Importers are strongly encouraged to know the CPSC regulations that may pertain to their products and to work with their suppliers to ensure that the goods they import are in compliance.
